“Karaeng Pattingalloang dan Harum Rempah” is a docu-drama film from Makassar as a part of Bumi Rempah Nusantara untuk Dunia Festival.

Cipta, a content creator along with his best friend Jo, planned to do coverage with the theme of Nusantara Spice Routes. Randomly, they chose Makassar. In this trade city of Eastern Indonesia, they met their best friend, Wana, who was ready to be their tour guide for their journey to see the wealth and uniqueness of Makassar, from history, art, culture, and culinary.

On their visit to Paotere People’s Port, they were surprised by a group of Bissu who were on their way to conduct the Mappasili Biseang ceremony. Wana shared a story about the tradition and other stories, including the greatness and majesty of Karaeng Pattingalloang, a Mangkubumi and a warlord of the Gowa Kingdom in the XVII century.

What are the interesting things behind the figure of Karaeng Pattingalloang? What are the things drowned during the rise of Makassarese history? And, what is the relation with the Spice Routes?
