“Kura-kura Berjanggut” is an art film as a part of Bumi Rempah Nusantara untuk Dunia Festival.

Adapted from the novel “Kura-Kura Berjanggut” (2018) written by Azhari Aiyub, this film tells a story about the history of Aceh in the 16th century AD. This film shows the political struggle of various nations to dominate the Spice Routes in the Malacca Strait.

Highlighting the Lamuri Kingdom, known as one of the significant points of Nusantara Spice Routes in the past, the 900-page novel has won a prestigious literary award in Indonesia, Kusala Sastra Khatulistiwa.
