Turmeric

Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) is in the ginger family (Zingiberaceae) and a spice and medicinal plant native to Southeast Asia. Turmeric rhizome has a peppery aroma and a warm slightly bitter taste and has a strong orange-yellow coloring. This spice contains curcumin which gives a yellow effect, so it is widely used as a natural dye.
