Nutmeg

Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) is a originated spice from Banda Naira Islands, Maluku. It has oval-shaped fruit, green when young and yellow when ripe. When ripe, the skin of the nutmeg will split open and reveal the seeds covered with red mace. Nutmeg has a distinctive pungent aroma and a warm, slightly sweet taste, and contains essential oils. This spice has an important role in the spice routes in the past.
